Easter is one of the popular festival of Christian religion, it is celebrated as the resurrection of Lord Christ.
Easter is a Christian festival which is celebrated in the memory of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is very religious festival shows the faith and devotion of Christians towards Jesus Christ and bible. It is strange but true that the name Easter is taken from ancient polytheistic religion. This name is never used in original scripture, nor is it ever associated with Jesus death and resurrection in the Bible.
Easter is also known as a movable festival because it doesn’t fall on a set date every year.
History of Celebration
Easter is the oldest Christian holiday and the most important day of the year. All the Christian festivals and entire year of worship are arranged around Easter. Because of resurrection event of Jesus Christ, it is celebrated with great enthusiasm and pleasure. It is celebrated in spring. This is the season of re-birth of nature; return the land to fertility, and birth of many young animals.
Symbols
The cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified and his resurrection are considered very sacred and important symbols of the period around Easter. This is also celebrated with real eggs or eggs manufactured from different materials, nests, lambs, hares etc. Sometimes, these symbols are combined with each other.
Public Life
It is not a federal holiday but majority of stores and shops are closed on this day. There is also a reason that it is occurred on Sunday so most of the government and private offices are closed.
