What is the full form of IES
IES : Indian Engineering Services
IES stands for Indian Engineering Services. The UPSC conducts Engineering Services Exam (ESE), which is a national level exam, to select candidates for Indian Engineering Services in various government sectors like Power, Telecommunication, PWD, Railways, etc. The selected candidates are designated as class 1 officers that work as an engineer under govt. of India.
It is a written exam which comprises six tests which are completed in four stages. It is held once in a year. The candidates have to clear all the six tests to clear this exam. The written exam is followed by an interview; only those candidates who clear written exam are called for the interview. The IES officers are appointed by President of India on the recommendations made by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). It is considered one of the toughest exams in India as a large number of students compete for limited seats.
Eligibility:
- Candidate must be an engineering graduate
- Final year engineering students can also apply
- Age limit is 21 to 30 years
- Candidate must be a citizen of India
