How to Install Node.js on CentOS
Introduction
Node.js is an open source, cross platform, JavaScript runtime platform which enables JavaScript to be used for server-side scripting. Although .js is the extension to a JavaScript file but it doesn’t represent any file of the framework. Now it has become foundational element of “JavaScript everywhere” paradigm. In this tutorial, we will learn the steps involved in the installation process of Node.js on CentOS.
Prerequisites
- CentOS 7
- Login as an administrator on the terminal
- Yum must be configured on the system.
Installation
Installation includes following steps.
1. Update the local repository index of Yum
Execute the following command to update the local repository index of yum package installer.
2. Install Node.js
Execute the following command to install node.js
3. Verify Node.js
Just type node on the terminal to get the node.js working. We can now execute the statements on the node.js script mode.
Extra Info
Just type node -v to check the version of node.js installed on our CentOS.
