How to Set a Reminder on Android
In the early days, before the growth and wide reach of technology to people, people were tired of remembering all sorts of things themselves. They write on their hands and keep notes all the time to remind them. As technology began to develop, the phenomenon of remembering their schedule and task gets changed. Technology and devices help people to organize their schedules tasks and remind them.

Set reminders on Android using Google Calendar
Most Android smartphones come with pre-installed Google Calendar on them. Google Calendar serves to check the date, but it also contains the feature of a digital calendar. The app is synced with your Google account and saves all your data there. Google calendar reminds you of all your daily tasks, events, and birthday.
Follow these below-mentioned steps to set a reminder on your Android phone using Google Calendar:
- Launch the Google Calendar app on your Android phone, mainly with the name Calendar.
- Tap on the “+” button at the bottom-right corner of the screen. You will see various categories that you can add to your reminder.
- On the list of categories, tap on the “Reminder“.
- Type whatever you want to remind in the place of the “Remind me to …” text field. After that, select the date on which you want to remind. You may toggle off the “All day” button and set a particular time. If required, you can set a recursive reminder from the last option.
- Tap on the Save option to set your reminder when you are all set.
Set reminders on Android using the device alarm
We mostly use the Clock (alarm) app on our phones to wake up in the morning at a specific set time. But this tool can also probably be used for setting a reminder on Android. One of the best things about alarm reminders is that you can set different alarm sounds for each reminder. This will differentiate what you set for that particular time when the alarm sound.
Follow these below-given steps to set a reminder on Android using the device alarm.
- Visit the App drawer, find the Clock app and tap on it to launch.
- Make sure you are at the Alarm tab, then tap on the plus “+” icon at the bottom right of the screen.
- Set a time when you want to remind your event via an alarm. Now from the alarm name (or label), enter the title to set your reminder. After you are all done, tap on the ok
Set reminders on Android using Google Assistant
Google Assistant is one of the features that come in a phone which makes it easy to set a reminder on your Android device. Tell your Google Assistant to set a reminder via your voice like “remind me to visit a friend’s home at 10 am”. Google assistant does this job for you. For all this, you have to activate it by saying “Ok Google” or long-pressing the home button and then saying your reminder message. The entire Google Assistant reminders go straight to Google Calendar.
Follow these below-mentioned steps to set a reminder on your Android phone using Google Assistant:
- Activate Google Assistant by saying “Ok Google” or press and hold the home button.
- When the Assistant goes activated, say your reminder and specify a time for it. For example, you may say, “remind me to visit a friend’s home at 10 am”.
Set reminders using the Google app
Google app also allows setting reminders on your Android. It mostly comes pre-installed on most Android smartphones. There are the following steps to do this:
- Launch the Google app on your Android smartphone.
- Tap on the More menu at the bottom-right of the screen to bring the Settings menu.
- From the list of settings options, tap on the Reminders.
- Now, tap on the “+ Create” button at the bottom-right of the screen. It will pop up a new template in the middle of the screen.
- Tap on the “Title” and enter the reminder message you want.
- Select anyone either Time or Place for your reminder based on your need. Selecting “Time” needs to choose the date-time for your reminder. On the other side, if you select “Place”, provide the location.
- Now, provide your reminder details such as Date, Time, and Repeat (based on your need).
- Finally, tap on the Save button to set a reminder.
Edit your reminder in Google Calendar
A reminder that you have created in Google Calendar appears in it. If you want to edit any previously set reminders of Google Calendar, you can do that anytime. You can change your reminder title, date, and time. Followings are the steps to edit your Google Calendar reminder:
- Launch the Google Calendar app on your phone.
- Tap on the previously set reminder you want to edit and tap on the Edit
- Update reminder message or date-time whatever you need.
- Finally, tap on the Save.
Delete your reminder in Google Calendar
If you no longer need your set reminder on Google Calendar, you can delete it from the calendar.
- Launch the Google Calendar app on your phone.
- Tap on the previously set reminder you want to delete.
- Now tap on the More menu (three dots) option and select Delete.
- Confirm by tapping on OK to delete.
Using some third-party apps
If the above built-in methods to set reminders do not suit your requirement, you may use some third-party apps that offer more features. You will find several third-party Android apps that help to set a reminder on your Android phone. We are using “Google Keep” and “Microsoft To-Do” to set a reminder. You will find these apps on Play Store.
Set reminders on Android using Google Keep
Google Keep app is mainly used for taking notes. But it is even more than that, which lets you make a list and set reminders on your Android. One of its features lets you set your reminders based on location, like reminding you to buy cloth when you are in the market. All such features of Google Keep are synced with your Google account. These are the steps to set a reminder via Google Keep app on Android.
- Launch the Google Keep app on your Android phone.
- Tap on the “+” icon in the bottom right corner of the screen to add a new note as a reminder.
- Tap at the Title location to add some notes under it. Now, tap the bell icon at the top-right corner of the screen to set a reminder.
- Select whether you like to remind at a certain time or a specific location.
- Finally, set the date and time or enter the location based on your selection for your reminder, and save
Set reminders on Android using Microsoft To-Do
The Microsoft To-Do app is one of the best tools to sync your reminders between your phone and Windows OS PC users. Its working process is mostly similar to Google Keep app. To get started and set a reminder, you need to download it from Google Play and sign in with your Microsoft account. Once you set up the app on your device, follow the below-given steps to set a reminder on it.
- Open the Microsoft To-Do app on your phone and sign in with your Microsoft account. If you haven’t an account, then register a new one.
- Tap on your ID to bring Settings options.
- Tap on Settings and enable the “Reminders” toggle button. After that, tap on the “Plan your day reminders“.
- Enable the “Turn on reminder” button and select the time and day.
- Now go to the main screen and tap on the “New list” below to create a reminder.
- Now, enter your reminder title and tap on the “Remind me” option to set a reminder. You can also set a new due date and time from the same pop-up screen.
- Tap on the upload button to save the task.
