Depending on your cooking skills and preferences, you may find yourself vying for a treasure trove of kitchen utensils and equipment. There is a foundation to almost any kitchen equipment list, whatever the case may be. These basic kitchen items will be found in the kitchens of even the most seasoned culinary masters.
Remember to use this list in conjunction with our basic grocery list. This will allow you to prepare some excellent basic meals while your kitchen is being set up.
There are numerous nifty and ostensibly useful kitchen gadgets and tools available. However, before you spend your money on these, consider whether you’ll use them frequently. Otherwise, you’ll end up with something that takes up room and costs you the money you don’t need. But if you’re serious about getting the most out of it, look for recipes that will get you to use it.
1. Chef’s knife
There are many different sorts of knives to choose from. But in actuality, just one or two are required. Chef’s knives are unquestionably the most versatile of all blades. It can handle most of your basic cutting, slicing, and chopping tasks. If you want a chef’s knife that won’t rust, go for one made of stainless steel.
2. Paring knife
While a chef’s knife is quite flexible, it can also be quite hefty. You may achieve the same versatility by pairing it with a paring knife. It’s smaller and has a shorter blade, giving you more control over your cooking.
3. Kitchen shears/scissors
Kitchen shears/scissors are quite versatile and can greatly simplify food preparation. Use them to cut meat strips or swiftly chop dry fruit or vegetables.
4. Vegetable peeler
This method can easily remove most vegetables’ skins and peels with this.
5. Chopping/cutting board(s)
It doesn’t matter if you have the best knives in the world if you don’t have something to cook with. It’s entirely up to you whether you want to use plastic or plain old-fashioned wood. Ideally, it would help if you had many boards for various types of food (raw meat, washed vegetables, fish, dairy). Cross-contamination in the kitchen, which can lead to food illness, can be reduced.

7. Mixing bowl
There will be occasions when you need to blend many items. A decent mixing bowl should be large enough to hold a considerable amount of ingredients while still providing enough area for mixing.

While most cans now have ring pulls, others still require the use of a can opener to access their contents. If the ring pulls snaps, a can opener comes in handy!
9. Blender
Some recipes, particularly sauces and soups, call for the components to be blended. This doesn’t have to be a massive device that takes up the entire work surface. Handheld blenders that are smaller and handier are available.
10. Frying pan
This is a must-have kitchen item. This may be used to shallow fry a variety of foods.
11. Spatula
This is excellent for getting food out of frying pans and skillets. While removing excess grease and fat, the slots in the spatula will allow it to fall away.
12. Plastic containers
Plastic containers are excellent for preserving meals and leftovers in the refrigerator. To give them even more variety, look for some that are also microwave safe. You may also use them to store leftovers in the freezer.
13. Plastic zipper bags
It is ideal for storing ready-to-eat foods in the fridge or freezer. These are likewise less space-consuming than plastic containers, but they aren’t suitable for liquids.
14. Kitchen foil
It’s wonderful for baking because it reflects heat, which can help some foods cook faster.
15. Pasta fork
To be honest, it looks more like a strange-shaped spoon than a fork. It is, nevertheless, quite useful for extracting and serving spaghetti and linguine that would otherwise pass through the holes of a pasta strainer/colander.
16. Pizza cutter
Even if you don’t eat a lot of pizza, these are excellent options. They’re also useful for dividing flatbread.
17. Masher

18. A balloon whisk
You’ll need one of these if you’re going to make sauces. Electric whisks and whisk attachments for hand blenders do, admittedly, take a lot of the work out of whisking. However, having one on hand in case of an emergency or if you’re dressed up as a Dalek for Halloween is still a good idea.

When taking things out of the oven, these will assist in preventing unpleasant burns.
