What is the full form of NET
NET: National Eligibility Test
NET stands for National Eligibility Test. This is a national level entrance test conducted specially for post graduate students who either want to make their career in teaching or wish to pursue a Ph.D in India.
NET is the minimum standard for teaching professional and research field. This exam is conducted in many subjects i.e. Computer Science and Engineering, Computer application, Social Science, Forensic Science, History, Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology Home Science, Education, Law, and many more as well as literature subjects like Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Rajasthani, Marathi, Gujarati, Spanish, French, Japanese etc.
Who conducts NET?
National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted by University Grants Commission (UGC). UGC conducts this examination every year (two times in a year) throughout India. This examination was conducted first time in 1989 and since then this examination is conducted two times in a year.
The examination for science subjects is conducted by UGC CSIR NET. It is the Council for Scientic and Industrial Research.
Objectives
The main objective of this examination is to find the students for university level lectureship and for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).
