Sqoop Installation

The prerequisite for Sqoop installation are Java and Hadoop. These two must be preinstalled in the system.

Download the latest version of Sqoop from internet. The following commands are used to extract the Sqoop tar ball and move it to “/usr/lib/sqoop” directory.

 $tar -xvf sqoop-1.4.4.bin__hadoop-2.0.4-alpha.tar.gz $ su password:  # mv sqoop-1.4.4.bin__hadoop-2.0.4-alpha /usr/lib/sqoop #exit 

Configure .bashrc file using the below command

Copy the template file

Edit sqoop-env.sh file with the lines below

 export HADOOP_COMMON_HOME=/usr/local/hadoop  export HADOOP_MAPRED_HOME=/usr/local/hadoop 

Download and set the mysql-connector-java using the commands below

 $ tar -zxf mysql-connector-java-5.1.30.tar.gz $ su password:  # cd mysql-connector-java-5.1.30 # mv mysql-connector-java-5.1.30-bin.jar /usr/lib/sqoop/lib 

Type the below command to verify Sqoop installation
